The NEC-ECNEC and Coordination wing is in charge of coordinating meeting of NEC/ECNEC/Planning Commission and monitoring the decisions taken at the meetings. The Wing is headed by Joint Chief, who is supported by one Deputy Chief, one Deputy Secretary, three Senior Assistant Secretaries/Assistant Secretaries and two Senior Assistant Chiefs/Assistant Chiefs

Functions of ECNEC Wing

The primary functions of the ECNEC Wing are the following:

• to call meetings among members of NEC, ECNEC and other relevant officials
• prepare minutes of meetings, distribute them and publish them from time to time
• monitor decisions taken at the meetings
• to formulate rules and procedures for processing of development projects
• to develop various forms and guidelines for preparing development proposals
• to coordinate the functions relating to Jatio Sangsad as well as Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of  Planning

National Economic Council (NEC)

The National Economic Council (NEC) is the highest economic policy-making body of the nation.

• Functions of the NEC:
  1. To provide overall guidance at the stage of the formulation of Five Year Plans. Annual Development Programmes and Economic Policies
  2. To finalize and approve plans, programmes and policies.
  3. To review progress of implementation of development programme.
  4. To take such others decisions and actions as may be considered necessary for socio- economic development; and
  5. To appoint such committees as deemed fit to assist the NEC in the due discharge of its responsibilities.
